The Revolutionary Road

Starts with a perfect setting in a small county in Connecticut with this happily married couple with a well set family, one thing that cuts them out fom the rest of their neighbours and friends being the restlessness and the questionable disregard they develop towards the way they lead their lives.

Starring Kate Winslet as April and Di Caprio as Frank Wheeler this movie tries to bring to light the realities of modern day lifestyles and the perpetual quest of young families trying to set themselves apart from the rest of the world not realising the implications of their motives, motives primarily characterised by sheer sense of emotionally driven behaviour and irrationality.

A keen observer shall quickly guage the moves April makes during the initial period of the movie. Not being able to withstand the monotonous living she goes through day after day, April proposes her husband to take a break from the job he does'nt love too much to pursue a larger and rather unrealistic plan of relocating to Paris.
Here she plans to be the bread winner for the family while letting Frank pursue his long cherished goals by giving him a chance to become what he always longed for.

While she manages to convince Frank of the idea, what she fails to realise is the apparent lack of practicality of her decisions while being caught in a rage of larger than life thinking.

Though, as the movie starts to pick up pace, we realise that the couple take a decision to further their initial plans while April realises she is pregnant and both settle down to honour their moral obligations to parenthood.

But what they fail to realise is that this decision would only begin to unsettle their individual lives more than ever before. Caught in a vicious cycle of plans and ambitions while continuing to manage work, kids and family the couples' lives and relations quickly starts nose diving into a downward spiral.
